Inoubliable! I am a french native and local to
Byron Bay. My husband and I were floored by our experience at The
Petit Snail. Not only was the food exquisite (we had the
fondue...best ever by far. Thanks Igor!) but the service was the
best in Byron! In fact, it's been years since we've had such a great
experience anywhere in Australia. Igor and Chauby make you feel like
you are dining in their home and yet are respectful of your space.
Their recommendation when it came to the wine was spot on! The
friendly banter, singing now and then as they work creates an
atmosphere that makes you want to stay all night. The waiter and
waitresses were top knotch too. Thanks for a phenomenal night! We'll
be back soon.

The food was to die for and the dinner
experience transported me to Europe for a few hours. The
conversation with the owners was a bonus. The Petit Snail is a major
reason to come back to Byron Bay. Dziekuje bardzo, Pan Twardowski! |

SNAILS!!!!!! WOW~~
How dare I am to eat a snail!!!!!!! It's like...to ask western
people to eat animals' organs!! On 25th June, I ate the first snail
of my life in this restaurant!!!! The snail spent half an hour to
look at me on the plate. Finally, this snail came to my mouth and
went into my stomach. It's yummmm....with garlic bread. The owner
and his wife are very nice and optimistic! They make customers
feeling warm and happy. We had fun and delicious food together. I
like this restaurant^^

Having lived in Tours, France many
years ago in the early 1980's, I did not think I would taste the
flavour of France unless I was in that country again - until last
Saturday night (13th June) celebrating our daughter's 19th birthday.
The food was better than superb, just like living there again and
they sang happy birthday to Erin in French. The best night we have
had in a long time!!! We will certainly return there again when we
are next in Byron.

The Petit Snail has
all the signs of becoming a venerable dining institution. It is very
definitely French, rooted in classic dishes that have sustained
generations of French people in their homes and local bistros /
cafes: not fussy kids' sized portions arranged by a feng shui
practitioner, but generous portions of expertly cooked seasonal
produce. To start, we shared a charcuterie plate and a herby rabbit
terrine: the duck liver pate on the charcuterie plate was nothing
less than sublime and the rabbit terrine was exceptional. My partner
then had a piece of beef cooked to perfection and which was served
with Roquefort butter. I had a beautifully cooked and presented
trout. Individual bowls of nicely prepared vegetables and vegetable
dishes, like ratatouille, accompanied these main courses to which we
were invited to help ourselves. We then enjoyed a small selection of
cheese (sheep's, goat's and cow's milk) then shared a freshly made
Tarte Tatin. Well done: we'll be back!

We dined at The
Petit Snail on a Thursday night, simply blown away with the standard
of service, quality and quantity of food that we returned with 7
additional friends the next night for fondue. They too most enjoyed
the hospitality and scrumptious meals at The Petit Snail. We dine
out quite often, and The Petit Snail is definitely by far our
favourite restaurant, we would travel all the way from Newcastle
just to eat here again. Thank you so much for the best dining
experience we have ever encountered.
